The refurbished smartphone market is jam-packed with reputable retailers offering incredibly low prices on nearly new and preloved phones.
Buying a refurbished phone will typically save you 10 to 15% if the smartphone is a new model released in the last 12 months. Older devices can easily double or even triple those savings, putting a great phone in your pocket for less.
Choosing the best shop for a refurbished smartphone in 2020 is probably going to come down to price and condition for you. The shop that has the phone you want in the condition you want is the shop that you will spend your money with.
But what happens when two shops are offering the same thing? And is it sometimes worth paying a little more for a better reputation, or better reviews?
Choosing the best shop for a refurbished smartphone
We would argue that the best shop for a refurbished smartphone in 2020 should have three things to differentiate it from the pack:
- An established history in the industry
- Lots of positive reviews
- A robust returns warranty and guarantee
These three things will provide assurance that the refurbished phone you purchase will be up to standard and that if anything is amiss it will be fixed.
It is also useful for a shop to offer the following features:
- Next day delivery
- Live chat customer service
- Mobile recycling (so you can get cash for your old phone)
- A wide range of devices in a wide range of conditions
- A clear refurbishment process so you know what work has been done.
Why you should choose I Need A Mobile for your next phone
You should choose I Need A Mobile because our shop is the best place to shop for a refurbished smartphone – and we don’t say that lightly.
We have put customer care at the heart of everything we do. We believe your shopping experience should be simple and stress-free. We take the time to answer questions, and we are happy to provide more insight into how we grade our products.
We are also proactive at helping our customers.
To give you an example, a customer purchased a phone for his vulnerable parents during the covid-19 pandemic at the height of lockdown. He wanted to collect the order with a matter of urgency even though we have never had a retail collection point and don’t offer a walk-in process of collecting an order. However, we made this exception for the customer who was able to ensure his parents could communicate with him whilst in self-isolation.
We didn’t want our customer’s parents to be left without communication as self-isolation is difficult as it is. So, we did the right thing.
I Need A Mobile has been on the refurbished smartphone scene since 2010, so for over a decade. In smartphone years, that may as well be a century.
2010 was the year the iPhone 4 and first-generation iPad were released. That same year, Samsung released the first-gen Galaxy S smartphone, and Google released the Nexus One. Back then, HTC was top dog for Android smartphones, but the iPhone 4 moved the game on big time with its glass and metal body and Retina Display.
I Need A Mobile started life as a mobile phone recycling company which we still operate today here – https://sell.ineedamobile.com. As our business grew, we started selling a wider range of devices and refurbishing them ourselves. We are now widely considered one of the best shops in the country for refurbished smartphones.
We have thousands of reviews published online.
Our main review platform is TrustPilot, on which we hold a 4.5 out of 5 star rating based on over 1,800 reviews and counting.
TrustPilot is the world’s number 1 online review platform. It enables businesses to turn customer feedback into something searchable. Feel free to visit our TrustPilot page and read our reviews. We’re confident you’ll be impressed.
Another place you can find reviews for our service is Google Reviews. Google Reviews doesn’t have its own web page. Instead, if you search “i need a mobile reviews” in Google, you will be able to access them from our company profile.
Reviews you can trust
We actively ask all of our customers to leave us a review without incentive. That last point is important, because it means our customers are not incentivised to leave us a positive review. This ensures all our reviews are genuine. We want new customers to get a complete picture of our service, and this is only possible with honesty.
Returns warranty and guarantee
Our returns policy keeps things simple – you have the right to return your smartphone within 30 days and receive a full refund.
Our only condition is that the device is returned in the same condition we sent it out. This will enable us to list it again in our store.
If you are returning a smartphone with no fault, you will need to cover the postage fee, but we will cover the postage if your smartphone has a fault.
Making a return request is easy – we have a request return page here.
All our refurbished smartphones come with a FREE 12 month warranty.
This is the same warranty you would receive with a new smartphone. It covers your smartphone for technical defects and faults arising from improper workmanship, repairs and uncertified parts (we use genuine parts in our repairs anyway, so this isn’t a problem for our devices – but it’s still good to know).
As with a standard manufacturer’s warranty, we won’t cover your phone for accidental damage, water damage, damage to screens, issues caused by third party software and apps, or components that were added by you after we sold you it.
Also, your warranty will be void if you open your device or attempt a repair yourself. We ask that you send your phone to us so we can diagnose all issues.
