2011 was set to be the year for the release of the iPhone 5 but instead Apple gave us the 4s. If Apple fans were disappointed by this, it surely wasn’t reflected in the sales. A staggering 4 million new iPhone 4S were sold within three days of its launch.
Samsung on the other hand, reached the 10 million mark for sales of its Galaxy S2 phone faster than any other device in its range. Samsungs Galaxy S2 was named as the ‘Best Smartphone’ at the Global Mobile Awards at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), beating its Apple 4s competitor. For ten months, it topped the uSwitch Mobile tracker. The success of both smartphones means that follow ups are highly anticipated and the question for mobile users everywhere is, iPhone 5 or galaxy S3?
There have been many rumours flying about for design concepts and specifications of the highly anticipated iPhone 5. Rumours suggest that the latest iPhone will come equipped with a quad-core A6 chip, a larger screen than the iPhone 4S, and 4G internet. The camera is rumoured to be that of the recently unveiled 12-megapixel Sony camera sensor and it will run the latest iOS 6.0, as well as being the first iPhone that is LTE capable.
The S3 on the other hand, is said to boast similar specifications, with a quad-core processor, 4.8-inch 1080p 16:9 HD screen, and a ceramic case, as well as 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera, it will run Android 4 and like the iPhone 5, it too will be 4G LTE capable.
However, as both manufacturers are tight-lipped about releasing any details until the official announcement, all we have are rumours, speculation and clever guesswork to go by. One thing’s for certain though, there is no doubt the release of the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 will be waited for with baited breath.
