The Klipsch Image S4i earphones are a pair of earphones and recently a rugged edition called has been released. We’ve had a go at using them and here’s the difference.
Straight off the bat, the Rugged S4is are colourful and are available in a number of colours. It comes in blue, red, orange and yellow. Unlike the normal S4is the Rugged S4is come with a rubberized coating. The gel-tips on the earphones are slightly elliptical which allows for a tighter fit and blocks out more external noise. The cable is around a metre long and slippier than the normal S4is, so it’s less likely to catch on your clothes or bag.
Around 30cm below the earphones is a built in remote control contains volume buttons, play button, microphone and a clip. The remote is slightly larger than usual and drags the earphones out your ear when walking or running but the built in clip solves that problem.
The sound quality is impressive on the Rugged S4is, you can tell the difference between the highs and lows as they are more pronounced than the midrange frequencies. Also, the tight fit of the earbuds allows for an impressive bass response.
Overall, the sound quality alone makes the earphones impressive but the build, design and colours add to the recommendation. You can pick a pair of these up for £90, maybe less if you have a good look.
