Angry Birds is a Puzzle game, in which players use a slingshot to launch birds at pigs stationed within various structures, with the intent of destroying all the pigs. Since 2009, over 12 million copies of the game have been purchased from the App Store prompting the company to design versions for other touchscreen-based smartphones increasing the downloads to over 50 million.
Due to Angry Birds being a successful combination of addictive gameplay, comical style, and low price it was awarded the Application of the Year on the Apple Platform + Best Mobile Application in 2011.
So what lies behind the success of Angry Birds?
